To stabilise the collapsed mine, concrete pads were formed on rock about
five metres below the surface to support the two cast concrete bearers.
Four
concrete panels were lowered into their position on top of the bearers
and were bolted to them. After this a timber frame was made and fixed to
the top part of the
mine. A timber lining was then attached to replicate the
original timbering of the mine.
